North Grand Rapids is the sprawling sector north of central Grand Rapids along Interstate 96. Although this portion of the city offers a suburban feel, there are abundant amenities within the area. State Route 37, also known as Alpine Avenue, is lined with restaurants, supermarkets, retailers, and local businesses. Along this route you’ll also find Wahfield Park, a spacious area with playgrounds, open fields, and miles of nature trails. Other outdoor amenities in this wooded community include Scott Lake Golf and Practice Center and Dwight Lydell Park, located near the Grand River and popular local restaurants and bars.
Although residents appreciate the small-town charm and peaceful atmosphere in North Grand Rapids, they are equally appreciative of the area’s proximity to Downtown Grand Rapids. From historic sites and well-known museums to riverfront greenways and abundant local hotspots for dining, drinking, and shopping, Downtown Grand Rapids is a buzzing neighborhood.

Property Ratings at York Creek Apartments
Application process is horrible . The staff is unprofessional. We submitted our applications a month back, by the time we were approved the staff already changed. Had to speak with 3 different people about our applications. We came in this past week and the even the manager was different now. She didn’t even look like she wanted to be there. Could hear her talking about personal issues with other employees, while we sat and waited to be helped. Hopefully, my year living here isn’t like this.

Hello! Your concerns have been noted and will address them with our staff. If there's anything specific, you'd like to discuss, please don't hesitate to reach out directly to 616-784-7227 or York@landapts.com. We look forward to making your experience here a positive one.
I don't recommend living here due to having mold everywhere and having to clean constantly the mold. Also when I moved in may , I already complained to the management about few things that were either broken or missing. I wish I could stay longer but sadly I'm looking for another place to live .
Mold in the air conditioner ! Barely worked leaking mice holes everywhere and they call an exterminator for them not to do anything but put stinky traps with a useless treat they won’t even go to . Very disgusting place and they do not care
They don’t care how well you kept up your apartment they will find a way to keep your security deposit. I never caused damage to the apartment and claimed that there was stains under the carpet when they pulled it and scuff marks on vynel kitchen floor. They never scheduled a carpet cleaning the 2 years we lived there, made sure to report repairs when needed and they never looked into the mold I reported in bathroom ceiling and corner on the bedrooms ceiling either. I should charge York Creek for damaged furniture due to mold.
Also the most expensive, rent is going up ONE HUNDRED AND TEN DOLLARS next year, for busted washer and dryers, terrible AC, and unfinished decks. Funny how the offices are all REAL nice though.
I only stayed here six months because my upstairs neighbors were loud and flooded my apartment twice in one week. York Creek refused to move me to a different apartment. They only came to deep clean the carpet and do the dry wall and paint. They had no intentions on pulling that nasty carpet up and replacing all of that with new carpeting like most other apartment complexes do in Grand Rapids. How are they preventing mold growth underneath that? They are terrible at answering the phones. The maintenance staff are so unprofessional. The apartments are outdated. The pet apartments stank so bad.

I was on a waitlist for a 2 bedroom loft for 11 months! I was finally able to move in and lived there for a year. Now I just received a “notice to quit” that says I have to be out in a month. When I called and asked why they aren’t renewing my lease they just said that “they have the right to not renew.” I have no lease violations and always pay rent on time. I’ve swept the parking lot in the summer because of all of the screws and nails on the ground. My kids and I pick up trash outside while waiting for the bus in the mornings. We are great tenants to have. They just want to get us out of here so they can charge someone else a higher rent. Heartless property management team!!!! I’m happy to be leaving here anyways because my building has a dog that poops in the hallways often, people who smoke cigarettes through the hallways to their apartment and the amount of trash outside in the yard is just disgusting. Cops are always being called to this area as well. Horrible horrible place to live. Do yourself a favor and find something else. And if you currently live here be prepared to have to leave when your lease is up for renewal. I personally know 3 other people they have done this to as well.

I moved into York creek on sat Nov 6 In that time I have had a constant barrage of noise from the upstairs tenants. Children running back and forth at all hours of the night. Manager said call after hours number and they would investigate. No show Additionally I came out this morning to find they had towed my car. When I questioned them their answer was “it’s not our problem” Manager don’t return calls or can’t answer any questions without consulting someone else. Absolutely useless. Don’t move here. If I could give them negative stars they would receive -5

Hi Kari, we are extremely sorry to be receiving this feedback from a new resident. We constantly strive to make our community a wonderful place to live for all our residents. We are sorry you feel as though our community has not lived up to those standards. It sounds like you have since had conversations with our Maintenance Supervisor and the office, however, if you would like to discuss these issues further, please contact our Property Manager- James at yorkcreek@land-co.com or 616-784-7227. Thank you.
I have been a resident for six years, but I will not be renewing my lease again. Many have complained about the music, but it NEVER stops. All day long people blaring music from their cars. You complain, they stop for a few days, and then they're right back at it.
The apartments are spacious and affordable. You may be lucky to get an apartment facing the woods so it's more peaceful. But that's the only nice thing about this place. My neighbors play extremely loud latino music all day. I've called the office and management doesn't do anything about it. Neighbors leave trash in the hallways, sidewalks, parking lots, everywhere and no one cleans it up so the whole place looks trashy and disgusting. I'm ashamed to say I live in this apartment complex because of how nasty the outside looks. My neighbors have trash on their balconies, broken wood on their balconies rails. It's horrible.

I have lived on the second floor for over a year. Nice spacious apt with all the extra amenities, washer dryer, dishwasher, walk in pantry. Loved it the first year. The garage is nice in the winter. Now new neighbors moved upstairs and they have small children that run around and cry until 10:30- 11:00 most nights. Walls are very thin, I can hear the parents yelling at their kids. Called security a few times and noise stopped for a day or two. Can’t wait to move out of here. Sometimes the hallways smell like marijuana. I have talked to a lot of other people that have the same issues living here. When I tell people I live at York Creek people tend to have a look of disgust on their face. My apt is very nice and spacious, but with all the noise and the dirty smelly hallways it is not worth it. I pay a lot for my apt and work long shifts between 12-15 hours at a time. I just want to go home and relax without hearing kids jumping off a bed and making my ceiling shake.
The people that run this pathetic excuse of a residence are heartless! There's trash EVERYWHERE! The apartments look like a cheap motel & reek of old cigarettes! they do not care about their tenents or previous tenants! They will take all you have just to earn a buck even if you're just the cosigner! DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITH THESE WORTHLESS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
This apartment encourages animal cruelty. The practice of declawing is the same as cutting off your first knuckle. I would never support any business that requires this inhumane practice.
The apartment was a roof with a detached garage. The handy men that came to fix things were polite and fixed the items with the cheapest possible solution which then looked tacky. There's no lighting for the entire living room, and the hallways always smell of marijuana. You can call and York creek will just boot a tenant then replace with a new problem. The tenants overall decent hardworking people and kept to themselves. The worst thing about york creek is the move out. They will offer you proration to move out early but 6 weeks later you might get a deposit check back but definitely not a proration check. They never fill the apartment because you already paid the month. I am giving the office the two stars. The building gets three stars and the tenants get three stars.
Maintenance takes weeks to respond, if at all. You can hear your neighbors very easily through the walls. Management doesn't care about you, only the money in your pocket. They are always making excuses to come into your apartment. Don't believe any of the 5 star reviews on here, as they were more than likely created by people who work for or, were paid by york creek. In short this is a nice little slum a couple miles north of grand rapids.
Ive been here 3/half years now i have a view of the woods ive seen deer ground hogs squirrels in the mornin while havin coffee on my balcony it so quit an peaceful here i feel safe we have security 24hr a day i can leave my apartment. Day or night an always feel safe . if i have any type of problem with my apartment i call an there here the next day. I jus love my apartment an would recommend anyone to come live her ur gonna love it
For the price the units are very large, best bang for your buck! The complex is very close to all the shops you would need including Food, service, hardware, clothing and more! Very close to downtown Grand Rapids. The common areas are maintained and the staff has been helpful. Fitness membership included with your lease as well helps save on gym costs. There is a strict noise policy at night so no worries about loud neighbors in the middle of the night. Garage included ( Not carport )
I'm happy with my apartment, I just wish it was a little cheaper and the washer and dryer were included
York creek is only a few miles outside of Grand Rapids. It's near a lot of businesses and restaurants and the bus line runs through the complex. It has a buzzer entry system and the office staff are very helpful and friendly. It has a nice campus nestled with woods. There is a park for children. Rent is fairly reasonable and the apartments are up to date. 24 hour security makes you feel very safe living here.
I like that the apartment is backed up to a creek and trees. However it is a big complex and noise is typically a problem. Inside the apartments is good. I have a loft with high ceilings and I love the huge walk in pantry.
I've had a great experience working with York Creek so far. I relocated from Illinois and had a lot of questions upon finding a new place. The leasing agents were helpful and answered all my questions in a timely manner. York Creek is in a great location just north of Grand Rapids.
I have lived at yorkcreek for 3 years with my fiance and son. Their maintenance sucks, they take forever to respond to a call and most the time they don't do the fix the right way the first time. We also referred a friend and were told we would get $100 off our rent for a month for doing so. Our friends now live here and they are saying we don't get our referral bonus because they didn't write down our address by our names. They constantly have excuses for why they can't do things and tend to get very rude.
It's so small, the LIVINGROOM only has 4inches on each side of my coffee table. The carpet is so old,cig burns, weird spots EVERYWHERE Theres no safety bars in Bathroom, I cant hardly get in & out of the shower w/out slipping. The freezer dorsnt freeze. Doesn't make ice cubes. My ice cream is like Yogert. What really bothers me is I have to CONSTANTLY PLUNGING THE TOILET, and the srat is always breaking. My life sucks. Please help. I NEED,FREE RENT. I'd MOVE!!!! I have a deck but it faced west, it's do HOT, it makes me sick. I cant tan ANYMORE. HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!
This complex is quite prompt to resolve issues. Every five years carpet and linoleum can be replaced as well as paint freshened. The staff is in the office until 6pm which is convenient.
These apartments are a good price for hat you get, although you are not downtown GR it is only a 10 minutes drive. I had a few issues when I moved in (Broken dryer, key didn't work, garage door opener broken) but these were all fixed relatively easily. I say relatively because the maintenance crew can be quite slow. Other than the maintenance these apartments are pretty good, overall I enjoy living here.
I believe the rent is too high for what we get. There is a great amount of noise level in my complex and too many children running loose. The buildings are not in great condition and maintenance could improve greatly. On the plus side, water and gas is included in the rent which is a great benefit. I guess my main complaint would be the environment of this apartment complex.
I've been at YC for 2 years and I must say I loved my stay here! My roommate and I got a 2 bedroom loft. The pricing was very reasonable. Our unit had a nice new kitchen. My room had a big walk in closet. Anytime we called maintenance, they always came as soon as they can. They fixed everything we asked them to fix. The people at the office were also pretty nice. There are always security cars roaming around the apartment so I felt safe. This area is very convenient too. There is literally every single store you could think of on Alpine. Downtown GR is also just a short 8 min drive. Freeway I-96 and 131 is very close to YC. I didn't give it a 5 star because there is not a work out area or pool or anything in the apartment complex. They do offer you a free membership at a nearby gym when you live here though. You just have to pay the $25 application fee for the gym.
