Property Ratings at Yorkewood Apartments
There is a mice infestation on the whole property that management does not take seriously. They will schedule minor exterminator even though the mice in the apartments are a huge problem. I report the mice I see so much that I don’t even have to give them my address anymore.
INFESTED WITH ROACHES!!! They do not care either, the tenants are disgusting and do not clean up after themselves or there’s pets and kids, outside and inside. Maintenance is non-existent. I’ve lost count at how many times they shut the heat off during the freezing winter and will forget it’s on during hot summer days. The rent is completely different when you actually get there, and has been for at least the past year. Don’t believe them when they say an apartment is “renovated “, it’s literally just given a new paint job. They don’t clean up behind the previous tenants. Don’t believe me? Do a walk through take note of the hallway, smells, and ask them how long has the AC unit in the window has been there. I promise the answer will scare you especially when you take note that IT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS NIGHTMARE! Save yourself the time, money, and stress and look for something better, maybe one with less roaches
Literally one of the most stressful apartments I have ever lived in. Since I moved in back in March I have encountered problems after problems in this “new” apartment. Between the toilet overflowing more than once, the bugs, the water damage, the cracked ceilings, and the communication between the leasing office and the tenants I honestly cannot wait to move out of here. This apartment isn’t worth the money or my energy! I wouldn’t recommend anyone to live here. P.s the laundry center is trash. only 5 out of 12 washing machines are currently working. 7 of them are either damaged or out of order. They want to put “new” vending machines in the center but can’t maintain the washing machines or get a cleaning crew to mop up the water on the floor. Terrible.
Currently live here, even though I will be moving. Had a gas leak and haven’t had gas, heat, and hot water for 3 weeks. Also had a mouse problem even though I keep my place clean. They came and place traps with no bait. Don’t live here if you want to go 3 weeks without heat in winter.
I'll try to keep this review straight and to the point. We lived here for two years. PROS:The apartments are cheap and include some utilities in the rent. Maintenance responded to issues pretty quickly and efficiently. The living room and dining room were spacious. CONS: Mice were an issue the entire duration of our stay. Literally the day we moved in, we were greeted by a mouse. They have an exterminator come once a week by request and even that didn't help. Every person in the leasing office is RUDE and incompetent, the property manager included and this is me being nice. I moved from these apartments a few months ago and they are still causing me issues by withholding my security deposit and charging me for "damages to the apartment" that do not exist. If you do move here, TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING, when you move in and when you leave. People shoot around these apartments frequently. There were two murders within the same week on my block alone. I stopped taking my son outside to play because I didn't feel safe. The heat is included but they control it. I don't understand what logic they used behind turning it on and off. It wasn't very powerful on cold Winter nights and there would be 70 degree days outside and they'd still have it on. We once had an accident with maintenance letting themselves into our apartment for no reason, without an active work order. If it wasn't for our alarm system, we wouldn't have known and something came up missing from our apartment. Our neighbors were sweet angels but I could hear everything they did. The closets are small. The kitchen is tiny. So tiny that the stove or dishwasher doors barely had enough room to open all the way. Speaking of dishwasher, ours didn't work. We had to have it serviced so often. It would overflow and there would be water all over the kitchen. Parking sucked. ESP if you worked late. I think that's it lol. 2 stars is generous but I know there's worse apartments out there.
Property Manager at Yorkewood Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to rate our community. We always strive to provide excellent customer service and a clean, comfortable living space our residents are proud to call home. While we are happy to know you had a positive experience with our maintenance team, we are sorry your overall experience did not meet your expectations. While we expect a certain amount of normal wear and tear during the course of a resident’s stay with us, damages to the apartment above normal wear and tear may result in charges to the resident upon move out. When new residents move in, we also ask and encourage them to conduct a move-in inspection of their home, and supply us with a completed checklist, which we can refer to during our move-out inspection with the resident. We welcome the opportunity to discuss this and any other concern you have directly. Please feel free to call our office at (410) 435-5111.
Living in an apartment, hearing neighbors at times is inevitable, but the walls here are so thin it sounds like the children playing next door are in my bedroom with me. The floors creek so if you have anyone living above you you will here every noise they make. Maintenance is slow to respond and when they do, the job they do is horrible. And trust me when I say the pictures on this sight are deceiving.
I love living in my apartment, I have been here since may 2015 and only had one or two problems but they were fixed quickly. Love not having to park on the street and the wahing machines downstairs. Heat is included so I don't have to worry about my bge going really high in the winter like it did on my last apartment.
Apartments are too small, designed to break up husband and wife. Only one person can be in the kitchen. My wife and I have 3 baby girls and I am the only male in the family and need a 2nd bathroom of my own. Children have to walk around quiet on the 3rd floor because it thumps everywhere you go. Our neighbors get irritated and turn their stereo up, so we have to be quiet and really can't do anything besides sit down and draw and paint all day. Our dream apartment is the Belvedere Towers Apartments on Northern Pkwy. It is a large 3 bedroom apartment. It would be good for us. We could make it to work in no time off 83, shoot straight down 95 downtown. It is easy to get out of Baltimore and go anywhere we want to go.
The apartments that I live in are nice. Being able to afford it is another story.
