New York City has it all, from iconic landmarks to industry powerhouses to every type of cuisine you can imagine. Here, staples of the American image are everywhere: the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, an unparalleled skyline, and dynamic neighborhoods teeming with diverse cultures and activities.
All the perks of living in the Greatest City in the World come with a price tag to match. The cost of living in New York City is the second highest in the nation. Those living in New York City tend to earn higher salaries, in addition to having a walkable lifestyle with quick access to the subway (and less of the fees and maintenance associated with car ownership). There are other ways to curb living expenses, such as looking in more affordable neighborhoods or renting with a roommate.
If you find an apartment you like in New York City, you’ll want to act fast. The vacancy rate is only around 2.

Property Ratings at Yorkshire Towers
There are cockroaches in the basement and regularly on the first floor. The elevators were under construction multiple times.
Worst place I've ever lived..... And I've lived in basements. The construction inside is endless. They are still very early in the process of turning old apartments into "luxury". ...definitely NOT luxury. The toilets, tile, and flooring is the finest CRAPmanship I've ever seen! Lol ...two of my toilets are 7" taller than a standard toilet. My feet do not even touch the ground when I sit on them. The appliances were all wrapped in plastics and not setup whe. I moved it. I had to setup the ice maker and shelves in the fridge. The stove was also not set up. They had floor plans, manuals and plastic stored inside the stove and microwave. The tile does not lay flat on the kitchen backsplash. And flooring was laid with huge gaps. It is done by people that really don't care and don't know what they are doing. Everywhere I look there is a problem. My balcony door finally shuts properly after three months of issues. It was never installed right. So the construction.... It started at 8am the first day, and when I complained they only changed it to start at 8:30am. It has been going on since I moved in in September. They are redoing the apartments both above and below me at the same time. It honestly feels like an earthquake. I had to take the paintings and mirrors off my wall because they were shaking so badly. The vibration was so bad that a pipe in my bathroom broke and the toilet is now leaking! They have not decreased my rent at all. Even when they are working on the apartment 2 doors away from mine I hear it clearly since the walls are paper thin. To the icing on the cake is the dust! It seems to somehow make it into my apartment and now is covered in white concrete dust. The smell tickles my nose and is noticeable. I can't wait to move If you have any problems while living here, you can be sure that they will not help you at all.
Lot of improvements going on in the building, but it is starting to come together. Great location! Huge balcony in many apts. close to 4/5/6 and will be stop for 2nd ace subway. Equidistance to Central Park or Carl Shurz park on east river. Pet friendly. Great restaurants and bar all over the neighborhood.
This is the perfect place for you, if you like: jackhammers in the apartment above you, someone occasionally sawing through the ceiling above your bed while you're in it, scalding water pouring over your balcony, and 90% of your building under construction with no end in sight. They tell you none of this upfront, so please be forewarned. It's a great neighborhood, but you may (will) end up living in a *very* active construction site. All of this has personally happened to me in my apartment in the course of less than a year living here, and there are days I want to cry as I work from home. :-(
My family has lived here for decades. it hasn't been easy, especially since they are seniors. Yes, it hasn't been easy for myself as well, however they can't afford to move. My father's boss doesn't pay him regularly. Still it's our home. Please consider them.
