Yorktown is a historic community on the west bank of the York River, directly north of Newport News. Positioned right next door to Yorktown Naval Weapons Training and just up the road from a U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown is a popular place for military personnel seeking off-base living arrangements. Families love the combination of affordable rental rates, low crime, and excellent public schools.
Yorktown Battlefield is the area’s biggest claim to fame, the historic site of Cornwallis’ surrender to George Washington at the end of the Revolutionary War; the site is also part of Virginia’s Historic Triangle, which also includes the nearby Jamestown and Williamsburg settlements. Virginia Beach is only a few minutes away by car, allowing you to hop down to the coast anytime.

Property Ratings at Yorktown Village Apartments
I've lived here since 2019. I haven't had any major issues. For the price, it is a good deal. The neighborhood is safe and is at a great location. If you live in an older building, you expect old building problems. The onsite property manager is always quick to respond. Sometimes it takes a while for a part to come in, because it is an older building. But overall, It has been a very pleasant experience living here.
We lived in the Yorktown Village Apartments for several years. The apartments were solidly built, the location was convenient, and the price was right. For the first 5 years that we lived there, we were very happy. Sadly, our old property manager retired and the new manager was awful. After many rounds of trying to deal with her we finally contacted the property owner. Furious that we had gone over her head, she made the rest of our time there miserable. When we finally moved out, she attempted to keep our security deposit. One phone call to the property owner and it was returned in full. We've heard from former neighbors that many old tenants have left over her hijinx and most new tenants don't stay long. It's a shame because they're great apartments otherwise. Prospective renters beware...
Peaceful living. Apartments are nestled in a Historic National Park. 2 walking Blocks from the Yorktown Beach with several restaurants. I love hearing the Fife and Drum practice on Wednesdays from my apt. 4th of July Fire Works just a walk away. A Great place to call home.
