If you could give a shoutout to a member of your onsite team, who would you pick?
Last month, we asked you to tell us about the superstars who work on your properties, and hundreds of you shared heartfelt tributes to your team members.
You told us about the property managers, leasing agents, housekeepers, maintenance technicians, and groundskeepers who work day in and day out to serve your residents and keep your properties thriving.
Of all the nominations we received, we’re highlighting three of the amazing multifamily professionals whose dedication forms the backbone of our industry. Each of these superstars will receive a $1,500 prize from us as a thank-you for their tireless efforts.
Apartments.com is proud to be this year’s official sponsor of Apartment Onsite Teams Day. The event, which is hosted by the National Apartment Associated, is an annual celebration of multifamily property staff. This year’s Apartment Onsite Teams Day falls on April 16.
Kelly Chavez keeps everyone smiling
Kelly Chavez is at the heart of Quail Run Apartments, an affordable housing community in Vancouver, Washington.
“She’s the nerve center of our property,” said colleague Alexander Nice, who nominated Kelly for the prize. “She answers the phones, tours the units, jokes with residents, and always find a way to make the day better.”
Always smiling, the assistant property manager manages to brighten the days of her colleagues and residents.
“We love Kelly!” Alexander said. Not only is Kelly always reliable and willing to help, he said, but she also has a great sense of humor.
Miguel Moncada works tirelessly for his property
The maintenance supervisor for K Street Flats, Miguel “Mikey” Moncada is popular with residents and colleagues alike.
“He’s the best supervisor maintenance-wise that I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with,” said Alesia Williams, who nominated him.
Mikey consistently receives positive reviews from residents on work orders. From performing monthly site audits to hosting resident events, Mikey is an essential part of his property’s success.
And his work ethic is unparalleled. Not only does Mikey support K Street Flats, a 176-unit property in downtown Berkeley, but he also works on call after hours to support other properties as well.
“He works tirelessly to make our community what it has become since we’ve taken over,” Alesia said, “and I wouldn’t be able to do this job without him.”
In fact, Mikey is so committed to his work that as his manager, Alesia has to make sure he occasionally takes some well-deserved time off.
“His work ethic is unmatched!” she said.
Sandra Wallace lends a sympathetic ear
As the property manager of Town Creek Apartments, Sandra Wallace is willing to wear as many hats as needed. Manager, handyman, painter, plumber — whatever needs to be done at the 72-unit property in Columbiana, Alabama, she’ll do it.
“She stays as long as you need her to and is always willing to help others,” said Cindy Music, who nominated Sandra.
But what stands out most to Cindy is Sandra’s kindness.
“She hasn’t always had it so easy,” Cindy said, “and she remembers that and is kind to everyone.”
When her residents need a friendly ear, Sandra is there to listen.
“She’s very understanding,” Cindy said, “and will give tenants the time when they just want somebody to talk to.”
A big thank-you to onsite staff everywhere
In recognition of Apartment Onsite Teams Day, we want to say thank you to all the onsite team members around the country. Your contributions keep the industry going, and we appreciate you!
