Property Ratings at Kavela
Great area, great amenities, perfect for getting a feel of the Seattle Area.
I've enjoyed living here - the building is new and always clean, I walk past them cleaning the lobby floors almost every day! My apartment has new fixtures and haven't had any maintenance issues. The location is ideal with grocery stores and coffee shops all around. Roosevelt Ave is a little noisy sometimes but never that bothersome. Overall, great place to live that's still in the city but more relaxed than Downtown or other neighborhoods.
Kavela was our first real place when we moved to Seattle. Ty is by far the best, nicest, and most helpful building manager we've ever had. The building is impeccably maintained by Yeob, also one of the kindest, most gentle men I've met, and is beautifully appointed in what little common space there is. That being said there are some issues. There really aren't that many common spaces for the tenants. There's a beautiful lobby/lounge but it's very limited and with it being the main thoroughfare for people entering and exiting the building it's not really somewhere you want to hang out. There's no gym. The roof deck is awesome but can get crowded on a sunny day and is kind of small considering half of it is blocked off for an apartment no on uses. The other elephant in the room is ventilation. Unless you have a larger apartment with multiple windows, there is only one window in each place. It is a crank window which (unless you remove the restrictor plate) only opens about six inches. Most people end up propping their door open in the summers and using a fan to pull in the AC from the corridor but that's a workaround not a solution. All this being said Kavela IS a beautiful and most of all FRIENDLY building. We had essentially no friends until we moved into Kavela but after meeting several of our neighbors (most critically Vishal) we found our way into an expansive and varied community that runs throughout the building. It's so nice to know your neighbors, to go out on the town with them, or know you have someone to watch your dog in a pinch. Super dog friendly. The neighborhood is amazing. Roosevelt is BY FAR my favorite area of the city and once the train comes in it will be as happening as capitol hill. Kavela is ideally located at the crossroads of 'downtown' Roosevelt. Broadcast Coffee (IN the buidling) is some of the best I've ever had. Shefayoga is amazing and has discounts for residents as well as free rooftop yoga in the summer. We're 200 feet from Whole Foods, 5 blocks from Safeway, less than half a mile from both Green Lake and Ravenna Parks. It's 200 feet from the Park and Ride and soon there will be a Portage Bay opening in the building next door. Honestly we've loved our time at Kavela and so will you.
