DC-area commuters love Arlington’s Ballston/Virginia Square community for its close proximity to Washington and its relaxed neighborhood atmosphere. The rental market ranges from charming single-family homes on tree-lined suburban streets to high-rise apartments and condos in the thick of Arlington’s urban action, attracting a healthy mix of residents to the area.
While the neighborhood is mostly residential, the area between Fairfax Drive and Wilson Boulevard is packed with office buildings, shops, and restaurants; this is also where you’ll find the popular Wellburn Square Freshfarm Market, a local favorite for fresh produce, as well as the stylish Ballston Common Mall.
Most of the streets in the area are fairly quiet, giving folks the ability to get around on foot or by bicycle. The community provides easy access to Interstate 66, which will get you into DC within minutes; multiple Metro stops in the neighborhood also help make commuting a breeze.

Property Ratings at Meridian at Ballston Commons
This property has extremely rude front desk staff that will give you attitude whenever you go retrieve your package deliveries. They also increased our 2nd lease renewal offers by almost 16% of our previous lease agreement which is far from the usual 2-3% apartments usually increase by. Avoid Meridian at all cost!!

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. We'd like to better understand your concerns with our front desk staff, so we encourage you to reach out to our office directly. Your input is valuable, and we are committed to addressing any issues to improve your living experience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
The management is so bad. We have lived here for a year. During this year, we have lost our packages, our bike. And the parking space is so narrow, they will tow your car even your car can fit in such unreasonable parking lot when there is no else to park. And they are not towing all the cars. You might be the “chosen” one. Their office is closed often. The front desk is empty when you need your packages. It seems they don’t want us to stay here, which is true because the staff said “you can choose not to stay with us. ” The apartment itself is not good either. It may be good when you have the tour. But after that, there will be many issues with the apartment itself. Our laundry door rotted because of the bad design. The hall way smells like trash, sometimes the elevators.

I've loved my experience here. The building's services are excellent, I don't hear my neighbors, amenities are great. It's an expensive rate to rent but I think it's worth it considering the quality as well as the location!
Property Manager at Meridian at Ballston Commons, Responded To This Review
Wow, thank you for the high praise! We're so happy to hear you loved living at Meridian at Ballston, and we appreciate you shouting out our quiet community and wonderful location! We'll continue to keep up the great work.
My spouse and I moved in last year and the entire process was poorly conducted. Our leasing agent sent us an incorrect leasing letter 3 times, with my having to point out to them the errors in the letter. Throughout the process they were very unresponsive, often going days without hearing back to inquiries or when we asked that the letter be updated to reflect what we actually wanted. It is rather surprising given that we are paying them money to move into their apartment. One would think that they would be interested in having a good track record of communication until we signed the lease at the very least. When confronted with the delays in response we would get the same excuse that the individual was busy (aren't we all), but being busy does not excuse absences of 48 hours. Additionally, because we did not earn enough at the time we had to pay a deposit and get someone to guarantee our lease, with the stipulation that both would be removed once we had an income high enough. Well, now that we do have an income above the levels stipulated by them they have informed us that to remove the individual guaranteeing the leasing as well as get back the deposit (which under normal circumstances residents do not have to pay) we will have to pay them 50$ so they can rerun a background check. So basically I have to pay them money so that I can have my money back, none of which was communicated in that manner. Moreover, the elevators for this building are terrible. You will literally spend 4-5 minutes waiting for an elevator during the middle of the day, when most residents are at work, and nobody is working on the elevators. It defies reality how much of my life I have wasted waiting for the elevators. Given the price, one would expect nicer features, functioning elevators and a leasing staff that understood customer service, but ultimately what a tenant is paying for is a great location. If you can get past the animal urine stains throughout every carpeted surface in the public areas, the poor customer service, and the glacier-like pace at which the elevators move, then this will be the building for you. If none of these things sound enjoyable, please find a place that is a little less overpriced and a little more human in how it treats its tenants.

I am so sorry we let you down. We have taken your feedback to heart and have already spoken with our team about the importance of communication during the application and approval process in hopes to prevent this from happening in the future. Our team should have communicated the guarantor process clearly and although we are human and make mistakes on paperwork from time to time, we want to apologize for the number of mistakes with your transition into your apartment. Our Property Manager would like the opportunity to speak with you in more detail to help us better understand the mistakes we made and to ensure we are making the necessary improvements to our service. Please reach out to him at 703-908-9800 at your earliest convenience. We truly hope we can mend this relationship and look forward to speaking with you soon. Sincerely, Ashleigh N,
A half block away from the Ballston Metro Station, Meridian at Ballston Commons is perfect for commuters. The building has well maintained amenities, like a rooftop pool with green views of Suburban Virginia, fitness center, convenient washer and dryer in the units, parking under the building, and free fresh coffee every morning. The staff is friendly and dependable and plans monthly events for residents, usually including food. Our building has mixed recycling services, however I wish they went the extra mile and put a paper bin in the mail room, as heaps of paper junk mail are trashed daily. Great residence for students of nearby universities, professionals, families, anyone. Safe location and lots of restaurants and shopping just a block away.
This apartment building is great. They take great care in serving the needs of their residents and have a wealth of amenities available at all times. It is conveniently located to public transportation (DC metro) and isn't too far from happenings in downtown Arlington and Washington, DC. Apartments are updated and have washers and dryers in unit, which is so great!
The Meridian at Ballston is the perfect set up for anyone moving to the D.C. area/Arlington. There are lots of restaurants in walking distance and more importantly the Metro is a block away from the building. While there are a lot of young renters there is still a large mix with families. They also provide free coffee in the mornings (until 1pm on week days)...who doesn't like free coffee? Maintenance requests are always done in a timely manner and the front desk is always friendly and helpful. The only con that I have is the price for parking...$75 for the first spot and $125 for the second (monthly).
Location, location, location. The walls are a bit thin but the location could not be more ideal - Metro, restaurants, grocery store, convenience store all within walking distance. Also the staff is great, so helpful and friendly.
